Awesome is a somewhat overused word, but I can’t think of any word that better describes @lafix.  Laura LaFix joined Twitter on April 24, 2009, a little more than two months after me.  I’m not sure exactly when she started following me, but I followed her right back because I found the avatar interesting.  She tweeted a little bit at first, starring my tweets that she liked and I did the same for her.  At that time she didn’t have a lot of followers.

After reading her tweets her intelligence was obvious. I like her liberal politics and sense of humor. Today she has more than 10,000 followers, all well-earned.

Laura doesn’t post pictures of herself, even though she’s cute, she doesn’t tweet about her vagina, boobs, blow jobs, anal, swallowing or any of the things that gain girls a lot of horny guy followers who hope they’ll talk with them in DMs.  She never gets involved in Twitter drama and doesn’t pick on anyone.  She’s just a sweetheart who tweets funny and political stuff.

She is now followed by a lot of the crowd I like to call the Old Guard; the group that was on Twitter in its infancy, most of whom follow @sween and vice versa. They are the group responsible for Favrd. Needless to say, this is the crowd that avoids me like the plague. If they do follow it’s for a short time. But, Laura hangs in there with me, even as she grows more and more popular.  One of Laura’s tweets was featured in a tribute put together by Sween and @poeks.  Now, she’s on WitStream.  I feel like I’m watching a little sister grow.

If you don’t already follow @lafix I’d be surprised.  Check her out.  You will not be disappointed.
